Bula Fiji!
Most relaxing 4 days of my life. A quick 3-4 hour plan ride from Sydney and you're in a tropical paradise! We hopped on a boat from the main island to Malolo Lai Lai Island and stayed at the Musket Cove. Planning was difficult bc all the websites have the most amazing photos which makes it difficult to choose one place - very overwhelming. Steph forwarded Laney's blog and it sounded so great that we just copied their itinerary. Great information if you are planning a trip there: http://akanina.blogspot.com/2010/04/honeymoon-in-fiji-two-and-half-years.html. Key here is to call them or email them to get a discount. It was very rustic and had a boy scout feel to it. There was a grocery store where you could buy uncooked meat, produce, etc and then a lively BBQ area where you could cook your food in large groups. (We never made it to the BBQ area). We stayed in a beach front buru (hut), walked the entire island (very lush), got a massage, watched the sun set, jogged (well Chris did, I took it easy and either napped or read during this time) and snorkeled in turquoise warm salt water. Service is very, very s-l-o-w... sit down dinner lasts two hours and for some reason you always need a reservation (even though most places aren't that packed). Best part is that activities (wind surfing, snorkeling trips, etc) are very low maintenance and complementary (again, you just need a reservation! Unlike the dinner reservation, this one you really need bc the activities fill up quickly). Perfect romantic beach get a way!
